AYDAP (African Youth Development Action Project) is a Scottish charity based in Liberia, Africa whose aim is to improve the lives of young people affected by the prolonged civil war, which gripped Liberia during the 90s and early 00s. AYDAP was founded by Liberian born Scottish resident Jerry Boweh in Sept 2003. AYDAP’s primary remit is to promote understanding and education among young people in Liberia through the mediums of music, dance, drama and sport.
AYDAP is a multi-denominational based charity, which is supported largely by funds raised through Glasgow Gospel Choir performances. The charity was founded by Liberian musician Jerry Boweh(Bassa Beat), whom came to the UK in the early 90s. Passionate about providing a better future for the young people of Liberia, Jerry founded the charity in 2003. Through Sport, Music and Education AYDAP exists to help the young people of Liberia to come to terms with peace, to start building a new society for themselves, in harmony with others. To be aware of each other’s rights to live and be part of a society which they must develop.
